Pact Final
Winner Ethan
2nd Mateo
3rd Danny
4th Jairo

Ethan

you not only excelled overall but also showed great ability in power difficulty.

Its interesting that he wasn’t conceited about working on technical areas.

just two things,I wanted to see more his own technical combo and variety in final(not only 3revs,skora pattern and typical pattern)

he should reach a new level in 2revs as well as consecutive alternative and typical patterns

Anyway,congratulations!

you are number one in this year

Mateo

one of the most complete player in pact15.he was actually better than Ethan in 2revs,technical difficulty and abbas variations(final)

Alebatw out- alebatw in-arlebatw in-arlebatw out is one of the best combo!(it was also intersting about salas nt with aatw, calvin combo and 4mgatw)

no one talks, but you have the talent to aim for the top player in abbas, technical 2revs and technical nt

2nd place,but just keep going

you will be a winner in the future!

Danny

one of the biggest surprise

a few years ago,I recognized him as one of the patw players, but now he has reach the world level

we saw not only the growth of abbas, but also the significant improvement in balance and 2revs

your true career is just begging

wishing you the best of luck

Jairo

many people were surprised by the your abbas variations

leb-rleb-beck-leb-rleb-beck palle trick is just crazy!

3things

1.you have to train both sides with both feet to get a true balance

2.you need 2rev variations and some power difficulty

3.after a few reviews, there is a problem of htrleb technique(in final,he touch the ball before abbas rev)

you have the ability to improve these things

keep going bro🤝

PACT 15 FINAL

  1. Ethan

  4. Danny

Danny:

It is a big achievement getting this far in PACT, and Danny has proved to be worthy of this throughout the tournament. In itself a very consistent final video with a lot of mature combos. Powerful 3 revs, strong beck/leb variations. But compared to Jairo, the video does fall short on various parameters: The main one being that the video is not full length, and as a consequence there aren’t a sufficient amount of combos to match the complexity of Jairo as well as his overall difficulty. Nevertheless, Danny seems to have a very bright future ahead. A very very worthy finalist!

Jairo:

Very very strong video. Brings a lot of interesting signature stuff, using both feet to a good degree. In my view, he quite evidently beats Danny – partly because of having a full length video, and therefore having more clips to compete with, but also because of showing higher difficulty across the video. Furthermore, his beck/leb/abbas variations are simply much more complex in comparison to Danny. His hardest htrevleb-related clips are also more than good enough to respond to Danny’s 3rev combos. There are, however, a few dropped combos by Jairo, and I would advise against this completely, but everything before a drop obviously still counts in my book. Overall the video is just more developed. Yes, the final trick doesn’t have proper execution on the abbas part, but overturning the decision from 3rd to 4th based on this alone would be too shallow of a focus in my opinion. And seeing that Danny also has dubious air motion execution on outside beck 3 revs, I would say the demerits are pretty evened out in this department.

Sidetrack: This also raises an unanswered question in lowerbody freestyle: in competitions like these, should we judge a trick based on the performer’s intention or based on what’s actually being done? Tricks can be unclean in more than one way: They can be unclean in the sense that the revs are just not being performed. For example a completely unclean latw where the “revs” are done over the ball. But for some tricks, the incorrect execution creates a new trick/combo, albeit not the intended one. Example: A “no air motion” beck skatw, for instance, is still a valid combo from a theoretical standpoint – hhjatw-skatw. The revs are still being performed, but our normative understanding tells us that they weren’t executed as intended. But all of this is for another time.

For now, Jairo is 3rd in my opinion. All in all, an iconic lower freestyle who deserves a podium spot in PACT!

Mateo & Ethan:

These two guys deserve a shared intro. Formally speaking, of course there can only be one person to take the 1st place in any competition. But it is essential to recognize that, in heart and spirit, this year’s edition has two winners. Podium spots and titles are completely irrelevant when freestylers do what these two freestylers did. Their countless efforts and the outrageous technical achievements shown in their videos aren’t just worth more than trophies – they are the real trophies.

The community has waited long for a lower freestyler that could rekindle the feeling of watching a Luca or Alekseev video, and personally, I must admit that I had my doubts whether it would happen again. Now we have two. Not only have Ethan and Mateo surpassed the majority of lower freestylers in history on sheer level. They’re also doing things with a modern approach, shaping new tendencies in lowers, constantly pursuing that pure want for difficulty which is inherent in every freestyler. And they’re executing it all with both feet, through systematic patterns, with variation in every single area, while showing clear dedication to shaping their own individual expression in a historical lowerbody context which they have both become a canonical part of at this point. I think we all have the feeling that this year’s final marks the beginning of a new era of dominance, and a new rivalry, which might just exceed every imagined standard for lowerbody freestyle for years to come.

Getting into the actual comparison of the two videos:

The way I see it, it makes no sense to judge this battle by trying to give points category by category, as both videos are incredibly complete. Whatever one of them does, the other has a very competitive response. One might be better in one department, but the other always has a clip to minimize his disadvantages. I think they both show more than enough variety, they both show incredibly weak foot, there aren’t any major demerits to give in terms of execution, and they both have plenty individual ideas/new patterns.

I have seen supported claims to the fact that Ethan does not show enough variety. First of all, I very much disagree after having carefully examined both videos. Both videos are absolutely packed with variety, no matter how you look at it. Seconds of all, I think we’re seeing some kind of intellectual movement in lowers which, consciously or not, claims that true variety can only be achieved through certain types of tricks (namely abbas-related), and while this might be true in a lot of cases, we can’t blindly rely on this way of evaluating lowers. I might be an idealist, but I would propose a much more pragmatic approach, where we, simple as it may sound, gain enough knowledge to see things for exactly what they are. And variety can be achieved within any category, by the way. What Mateo achieves in no touch variety (abbas and 1.5 rev nt) and alt 2rev variety, Ethan makes abundantly up for with his 3rev variety and his 2rev abbas variety. Mateo obviously has great responses to all of this, but so does Ethan the other way around.

Ultimately, the overarching difference in the battle is that Ethan comes out on top when it comes to pure difficulty, as his video – as a whole – has a higher amount of clips that outperform Mateo’s clips than the other way around. There are many examples to give, and this text would be endless if I were to go through every single one. But the bottom line is that Ethan’s video is just a tiny bit more qualitatively consistent if we look at what’s actually being done. Yes, some of Ethan’s combos are dropped, but as I stated earlier, everything up until the drop still counts in my view. Besides, Mateo has 33 clips, while Ethan has 42 (as far as I counted). Of course, this in itself does not settle the outcome, and both numbers are mind-boggling. But the standard of Ethan’s clips is still slightly higher, and the fact that he is also the one with the higher number of clips to compete with edges the vote in his favor.

So with all this being said, my vote goes to Ethan. But if it were possible to cut the 1st place trophy in two, and share it between them, it would be the fairest thing to do.

This was a lot of text haha, just tell me if you want me to send it in another way 🙂

Adrian Ornelas:

Ethan/ Ganador

Ethan/ Winner Without a doubt the Freestyler that surprised me the most, you made an impressive level jump in this round. You were very constant and forceful throughout the competition, in the end you showed an impressive variety of tricks, as well as excellent balance between legs. His stability and style when executing his combos make him a unique freestyler. Your way of making combo formats and completing practically all of them speaks of hard work. Uncommon tricks and impressive speeds left me shocked, more than deserved this first place. Congratulations, I’m looking forward to seeing more

Mateo/ segundo lugar

Muchas felicidades

Mateo/ second place An impressive variety of complicated tricks, many different types of moves needed to perform the number of tricks you already possess. You need to polish some details, however in general you have a good execution, although it is understandable that some combos or tricks, being the first time, are more difficult to do 100% clean. I really like the explosive way you make your videos, I know you can give even more, without a doubt this is not your limit. I would like to see more defined formats for your combos, that would undoubtedly give you a plus in your next competitions. Congratulations

Jairo/ tercer lugar

Muchas felicidades

Jairo/ third place Brother, although you could have given even more, I am satisfied to see your participation in this PACT, an impeccable style despite the level you already manage. Unique combos and a lot of stamina like only Jaironman could. I would like to see you try some more daring things outside of your comfort zone, since you have plenty of bases to do almost anything. Congratulations

Dany / Cuarto lugar

Muchas felicidades

Dany / Fourth place Wow, I was very surprised by this PACT to see you up to this point maintaining yourself and continuing to evolve with the passing of the rounds, your leg balance is already at a professional level. I liked that you took more risks to do different things because you achieved it, you maintain a very good style despite the difficulty of your combos. I hope this competition helped motivate you to try next year. Congratulations

I’m disappointed that the video is only 2 minutes 30 seconds with slowdowns. It can’t fully stand up to the other finalists. I think Danny has a good chance of putting up a fight at the top level, keep it up maan!

Jairo is good with his style, which includes many areas of lowers, but his arsenal of tricks and variations is much lower compared to Ethan and Mateo. Can Jairo contend for top2-top1 using only his usual techniques? I think so. It requires more thoughtful combos, less improvisation, less secondary or intermediate tricks, only the most juice ones.

2. Mateo
1. Eathan

These two showed that they are worthy to break into the all-stars league. The final videos are really hot and rich in complex combos. I was amazed by the variety of directions and how high these guys are.

I counted 21 categories of lowers where both had something to compare them to, it’s amazing.

Let’s start with the ones where they’re roughly equal:

Cross ahtlatw – well done by both, parity.

Long NT: I think on an equal level too. Wish there was a combo with just amatw nt from Ethan. That might have made the difference.

Other than that, there’s a lot to compare

In classic 3.5rev tricks, I’m in favor of Mateo. Akim matw from Ethan’s is very debatable.

Same for rar 3revs. Akim trick in Ethan’s clip is hard to tell if it’s clean or not. Therefore I vote for henderson move (weak) and rogerio move (weak), as well as Mateo’s mind-blowing final combo.

Alt magellans is better exposed by Mateo.

Both presented a long nt combo with taatw/maatw nt. Mateo is the wizard here, mixing both. I think it’s more complex than a monotonous maatw pattern.

Another huge impression boost from Mateo’s gives a combo with all Skora tricks. Genius.

3rev3rev: Eathan htrleb akmove > Mateo skatw patw

Alt3revs: With a slight edge in Ethan’s favor due to 2 ahmlatw in the combo. I’m sorry, but I’m not sure Mateo’s ahtrleb is more valuable here.

3.5rev+nt: Ethan pressures with a variety of 3revs + extra bonus for latw nt’s.
Both have 3.5rev + long nt combo, Mateo is better here.
But Ethan has a trump card in the form of szmatw abbasakmove combo.

3rev alt3rev: Ethan 2 to Mateo 1. Nothing to comment on. Both did cleanly and stylishly.

2revNT: Eathan ltatw rsatw ahtatw > Mateo’s amatw rsatw ahtatw nt. In addition brilliant combo with latw/alatw nt on both feet and 5 amatw ahtatw nt on both from Eathan, delicious.

Ethan’s aatw nt combos are much more complex. aatws combined with becks no touch impress me much.

Mateo’s 2.5revs combo with all palle moove variants loses to Ethan’s combo with 4 becks/leb 2.5rev. Plus Ethan has one more combo in this category with lebmgmatw on both feet.

Ethan has alt 3.5rev in his assortment, while Mateo does not.

Also,I see the total superiority in Beck3rev variations. Alt lebeatw combo from Mateo is not enough, vs 3 different Beck3revs one of those latwbeckhtlatw! and alt beckakmove is essentially a direct answer to alt lebeatw. Lack of combo after ak move, Ethan makes up for in combo with Beckpmatw in response to a lone Beck Skora move matw from Mateo.

I also tried rating each combo on a ten-point scale, and I got Mateo’s 227 vs Ethan’s 283 with an average difficulty of about 6.8 for both.

Note that Ethan has cumulatively more combos in the video than Mateo. This is due to the fact that Ethan has a better approach to planning his combos and timing in the video. A very important point in my opinion.

The bottom line on paper is that Ethan is equal to or ahead of Mateo in most criterias. So in my opinion Eathan is the winner of PACT 15.

Congrats to all of you guys. Your names are in history. Thank you for reading
